“Endangered Key Deer Buck Supervises Volunteers!” (Photos © 2020 ValPreziosiPhotos.com.) Save Our Key Deer, Inc. (SOKD) conducted an important beach cleanup on Long Beach, Big Pine Key today, (10/15/20), to remove man-made debris from the beach that poses a risk for endangered Key deer and all wildlife. Volunteers arrived on time despite a downpour that fortunately cleared up shortly after. Justin Nels, Isla Bella Beach Resort director, brought a team of 15, and the Church of Latter-day Saints brought their team of 7. There were 22 local SOKD volunteers and residents making a total of 48 folks cleaning a 2 mile stretch of coast! SOKD volunteer Debbie F. brought a huge bowl of amazing cookies that were quickly devoured. Thank you Debbie! Thank you Harry A., Deer Run B&B for helping collect the heavy bags with your tractor! Thank you to everyone that participated – you truly rocked it out! It was a productive and fun day. Here are some of the amazing people that volunteered:
